The Internet Control Center (ICC) is a desktop application that launches your dialup connection (Dial), the default web browser (Web), default e-mail program (Mail), and ICC settings (dialup number, etc.).
Windows
To use the ICC:
- Click the TWCBC desktop icon to launch the ICC.
- To launch a dialup connection, see the Dial section; to launch the default web browser, see the Web section; to launch the default e-mail program, see the Mail section; or to change the ICC settings, see the Settings section.
Dial
- Click the Dial icon in the ICC window to launch the dialup connection.
- When the Dialing Preview window displays showing your Username, Password and the Phone Number being dialed, click the Dial button. You will see a status message while the connection is attempted. Note: If a Connection Problem window appears, click the OK button to redial or the Cancel button to exit.
Web
Click the Web icon in the ICC window to launch your default web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape or any other browser that has been selected).
Mail
Click the Mail icon in the ICC window to launch your default e-mail program.
Settings
There are two settings categories: Dialer and General. In the Dialer settings category, you can: change your login information; add or edit dialup numbers; and use the Roaming option to find a local dialup number. In the General settings category, you can change how the ICC handles various tasks.
Dialer Settings
To modify your dialer settings:
- Click the Settings icon in the ICC window. The Dialer window will appear.
- To change your Login settings, see the Login section; to change the Numbers dialed, see the Numbers section; or to change the Roaming options, see the Roaming section.
Login
- To change your login settings, select a Connection type from the drop-down menu in the ICC2000 : Settings window. Note: Only Time Warner Cable Business Class Dial Access logins will be pre-configured. When Dial Access is installed, all dialup networking connections are recognized and will be listed in the Connection drop-down menu. If you subscribe to other dialup services (i.e. AOL, Net Zero, etc.) they will also appear in the Connection drop-down menu. These other connections can be configured from the ICC. You will need to add your Username and Password for the other service(s). Note: Make sure the Remember Password box is checked if you wish not to enter your password each time.
- Click the OK button.
Numbers
Click the Numbers button to display the selected Dial Access number in the ICC2000 : Settings window. The current number can be edited or changed and new numbers can be looked up and added. Note: The numbers in the Local Phone Numbers list will automatically update each time a connection is made.
To add or edit a number:
- Click the Add button to add a number or the Edit button to change a number.
- When the Add/Edit Number window displays, type in the Prefix (area code) and Number or click the Lookup button to find a number.
If you click the Lookup button, a list of all available numbers will be displayed. You can narrow the search by typing the desired state/country in the State / Country field and clicking the Search button. You can select a City from the drop-down menu to display a list of numbers available for that city. To select a number for a specific city, highlight the number desired from the City drop-down menu.
- Click the OK button.
Roaming
To lookup local telephone numbers using the roaming feature while you are traveling:
- Click the Roaming button in the ICC2000 : Settings window to display the Roaming window.
- Check the I'm roaming checkbox to search for a local telephone number.
- Select a roaming number by typing in the desired State / Country and clicking the Search button; or selecting a City from the drop-down menu to display a list of numbers available for that city. To select a number for a specific city, highlight the number desired from the City drop-down menu.
- Click the OK button.
General Settings
You can change how the ICC handles various tasks by modifying your General settings. To change your settings:
- Click the General button in the ICC2000 : Settings window.
- Select your desired options by inserting a check in the appropriate boxes.
- Click the OK button.
Macintosh
To use the ICC:
- Click the ICC desktop icon to launch the ICC.
- To launch a dialup connection, see the Dial section; to launch the default web browser, see the Web section; to launch the default e-mail program, see the Mail section; or to change the ICC settings, see the Settings section.
Dial

To avoid receiving authentication errors the first time you use Dial Access, you must activate your Dial Access account on your local machine before dialing.
To activate your account, click the Settings icon ICC window. When the Dial window appears, click the OK button. The number entered during the setup and connect process will be dialed. |
To initiate a dialup connection anytime after activating your account, click the Dial icon in the ICC window.
Web
Click the Web icon in the ICC window to launch your default web browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape or any other browser that has been selected).
Mail
Click the Mail icon in the ICC window to launch your default e-mail program.
Settings
- Click the Settings icon in the ICC window to change your dialup number.
- Type an area code, city or a telephone number in the Search field and click the Search button.
- The results will be displayed exactly like they are when setting up the connection. Refer to those instructions, if necessary.
