Hackers use auto-dialers to search entire area codes to find systems to hack. They do not care who or where their victims are or where they are located. This type of fraud can be a serious issue for smaller companies that do not have elaborate security resources and that may be less able to absorb losses that can sometimes range from $10,000 to $80,000 per incident.
