What is a Trojan Horse?

Trojan.Qhosts

A trojan horse, called Trojan.Qhosts, was discovered on October 1, 2003. It is a trojan that will modify the TCP/IP settings to point to an invalid DNS server. For a machine to become infected, a user must open an HTML page that contains the means to open the viral HTML file on the target's machine such that the script is able to create and run the malicious executable. When this happens, you will be unable to navigate to any sites on the Internet.

Systems Affected: Windows 2000, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT, Windows Server 2003 and Windows XP

Systems Not Affected: DOS, Linux, Macintosh, OS/2, UNIX and Windows 3.x
