Access - Overview
The Time Warner Cable Business Class service currently is offered to businesses up to 2 Mbps x 384 Kbps standard rate of speed upstream. By offering additional upstream and downstream data rates (tiers), the tiered Access service enables Time Warner Cable Business Class to provide businesses with more choices for their level of high-speed Internet access.

Description
TWCBC's tiered Access service is a multi-level broadband service that operates across a Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) network via a cable modem. Tiered Access service offers a variety of data rates for commercial businesses* to choose from, depending on their business needs. It enables a variety of upstream and downstream rates. Currently, service tiers include a minimum data rate of up to 128 Kbps x 128 Kbps and a maximum data rate up to 5 Mbps x 128 Kbps (avaliabkle Access tiers vary by location).

Risks
Data rates are delivered in a "commercially reasonable effort" manner. Meaning the service is provided without guaranteed or assumed Quality of Service (QoS) features.

Due to the use of "commercially reasonable effort" tiers, users will receive a variety of actual data transmission rates. Contact your local Time Warner Cable Business Class provider for further information or support.

Tiers

The following tiers are targeted to businesses that fit the corresponding profiles:

  • 1 Mbps x 256 Kbps (Single User Teleworker) - Customer seeking a low cost solution with greater speed and reliability than a dial-up modem.
  • 1.5 Mbps x 768 Kbps (Small office) - Offices up to 10 employees. Business with little upstream requirements, such as e-mailing large files.
  • 3 Mbps x 768 Kbps - Offices up to 30 employees. Business with similar upstream requirements as the 1.5Mbps x 768Kbps option above.
  • 4 Mbps x 384 Kbps (Large office) - Offices up to 100 employees. Business with little need for upstream speed.
  • 1.5 Mbps x 1.5 Mbps - The T1 option, considering the maximum data rate is the identical to the T1 line. Businesses with large upstream requirements, such as hosting a Web server.
  • 4 Mbps x 2 Mbps - Currently, this is the fastest tier available and businesses with mid-sized offices and up to 100 employees who require greater upstream bandwidth.

How to determine what high-speed solution is the best for your business:

  • How many employees do you currently have working out of your office?
  • How many employees do you have working offsite?
  • Are you hosting a Web server?
  • Do you send large files via E-mail/FTP?
  • Do you download audio, video, or large documents?
