Time Warner Cable Business Class Employees Donate $10,000 to Charity Charlotte, NC (September 9, 2009) – They could have taken the money for themselves, but Time Warner Cable Business Class (TWCBC) employees in the Carolina Region are donating $10,000 to local charities. The employees are the winners of a company-wide sales contest. Instead of keeping the cash, they decided to donate the contest winnings to several charities in North and South Carolina. The employees say they wanted to donate the money to emphasize Time Warner Cable’s company values of community and teamwork.
The employees work in the territorial sales organization in the Carolina Region. They earned first place in a national, company-wide contest called Fill the Funnel where a grand prize of $10,000.00 was awarded to the team that achieved the highest percentage to sales quota. Instead of claiming the prize for themselves, the 40-member winning team made a collective decision to donate its reward in the markets where they live.
“I am so proud of our sales team for dominating this national contest and giving its reward to charity,” said Albert Blackmon, vice president of sales & marketing. “The fact the team is donating the entire amount really shows our organizations sense of community, teamwork and selflessness.”
Charities chosen by the sales team include A Child’s Place, Autism Speaks, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Special Olympics, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, American Heart Association, 2Young Foundation and Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care. In addition to their generous donations, TWCBC employees will also support these organizations by volunteering to raise awareness and additional funds.
Michael Galvin, a member of the winning sales team, was involved in the decision to make the donations to organizations such as Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care located in the Northwest Piedmont of North Carolina. “This was a tangible way that we could give back to the organizations that make positive impacts in our local communities,” said Galvin. The decision demonstrates 2 of 7 new company values –Community and Teamwork. These values, which describe how the company delivers its mission of connecting people and businesses, include Initiative, Innovation, Inclusion, Integrity, Excellence, Community and Teamwork.
